Dr. Copeland’s Blog

Welcome to Copeland Cosmetic Surgery blog.

It will be my goal to update this on a weekly basis.

I am looking forward to providing some useful information and some personal reflections that may be instructive.

As a Plastic Surgeon, I spend a lot of my time planning and doing procedures and providing the care that precedes and follows the operation. But just because I spend my time that way doesn’t mean that my patients have the time or inclination to do so. They are usually not Plastic Surgeons, so I seek to give my patients enough information to allow them to make good decisions about whether to have an operation, and which procedure(s) will work best for them. It is easy to give too much or too little material to a patient, so I ask them to let me know if their needs are being met.

A consultation in my office for one procedure may take as long as an hour, with enough time spent for discussion of the patient’s concerns, goals and personal health history. The examination is a necessary part that we carry out with discretion and privacy. In the case of a breast augmentation, trial implants are used to help determine what is the most desirable size for that person. Photographs are used to help understand anticipated results and sometimes to help decide which approach to use.

The experience is similar when we are consulting about breast lifts, tummy tucks, liposuction or any of the multiple cosmetic procedures that are the focus of my practice. More procedures addressed means more time spent in consultation.

We have specific plans to have a very friendly computer system set up in the near future that will allow us to make the patient’s experience enjoyable and efficient, and to our best ability, fun.

Our office has gone through many positive changes in the past year, with our move into a new, bigger facility with easier highway access, more privacy for our patients and more services such as fractional CO2 laser resurfacing and “micro-peel” for pigment irregularities, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL or broadband light) treatments for lessening of wrinkles and discoloration of the upper chest and treatment of adult acne, spider vein injections, hair reduction, Botox injections, fillers (Restylane, Radiesse and autologous fat grafts) and in-office facelifts! We also have some new staff members who are very energetic and looking forward to providing high quality care to our patients.

Please let us know what you think of this blog and our website. And… please come in for a consultation. If you mention the blog, the consultation will be complimentary.

P.S. My next blog will be about how to understand what “board certified” means when you are shopping for a Physician.
